Alright, so the holidays have began, and I finally got off my lazy bum and finished coding my art site - though I really should be catching up with all the work I haven't done during the semester : P . The site is far from complete - there's not much there at the moment, just a couple of pics and the layout XD But it's up and running, at least ^_^

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out - not the picture, I don't really like that very much - but the little borders and background and things XD I had so much trouble figuring out how to present my collection of drawings - I thought it'd be more elegant to have one of those hover-to-see-full-view CSS set ups, but it was too much for my brain to handle. :P The current pop up view is a mish-mash of codes I googled, so it's probably a wee bit clumsy - but meh - it does the job XD I'm scared to run my site through the validator - in case I get a bijillion errors or something XD

But yes - do visit! And tell me what you think :) And point out any errors in coding! - I've run through the site in IE and Firefox, and it *seems* okay - but no idea about other browsers...

Speaking of other browsers - does anyone use Google Chrome? I'm considering trying it out, just out of curiosity XD Any opinions?

Guess the characters game has been extended, since I didn't receive a single entry the past week XD Maybe till June?

Apologies for the lack of doodles recently. Life has been beyond busy... and it doesn't help that I'm currently obsessed with VPN - which is this new game I found - I haven't been this addicted to a game since Neopets when I was 12 XD ... which is fair enough since this game is made by the same two people!

This is one of those application games that are super easy to pick up. As you can probably guess by the name, you can play as a viking, pirate or ninja (you can have up to three characters, so I'm playing as all three XD It's *that* good!) and you complete semi-sequential quests with hilarious storylines. You can dress up your character in fancy clothes you buy or get from quests. They've even set up chat places now, so you can talk to other speakers while you wait for your energy to restore! And don't even get me started on the addicting minigames o.O

Don't be thrown by the beta testing phase. Anyone can sign up (it's super fast and easy) and the game is fully functional - I have yet to experience a bug (and I've been playing for more than a week now XD)

Anyway, VPN is awesome and taking up my life (which is probably a bad thing, considering all the work I have piled up XD) But if any of you are on VPN, do drop a comment with your character's name, and I'd love to add you as a friend!! ^_^

On a completely different note, I've recently started using firefox, and have noticed the bottom of my layout is abnormal looking (which doesn't happen in IE...)... no idea how to fix it though :S I'll try and fiddle around some more with the coding when I have the time, but for the moment, bear with me XD Any tips would be much appreciated!

Themes 18-25 Guess the Characters Game!

Lets play a guess the characters game!!! XDD (because Sunny is bored :P)

Okay, the doodle theme this week was on comic characters - so I've lumped it together with weekend free themes from last week, and came up with this bunch (all done yesterday and today! when I really should have been studying XD But I love doing fanart, so I couldn't resist!^_^) They are all manga characters, because I don't really read western comics XD .

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to name as many of the characters as you can, and the manga which they are from! :D They're all from mangas that I have read, or have seen around, and I don't think they're *too* obscure. You can send the answers to me via email (sunny_serenity@yahoo.co.nz*nospam - remove the last section) or drop me a note via dA *points to the left*, or if you're feeling extra confident, comment below!

Honor and glory (and a name mention in this blog! XD ) will go to the first person who can name them all, or the person who can name the most by 12th June (arbiturary date. Will extend if noone does XD). And I'll also chuck in a sketch request if you like! (something in the style of these doodles) :)

Really hope someone enters! I'm really curious as to who reads similar mangas to me XD And whether my doodles are recongizable as the characters themselves XD

Pyrochan over at DA promoted this project a few days ago on her journal, and it piqued my interest. It's basically a daily sketching challenge, where you doodle to a theme everyday, and pick your own on weekedns. It seems like fun! I probably wouldn't be able to keep up, but the themes seem fun, so I might just have a go, even if I can only keep up with one doodle a week/month XD

Lectures got cancelled for both today and thursday. which meant I had a grand total of two hours of uni today :) And thursday has been shorted from six hours to just four!!! woot!

Easter break's in two weeks too!!! life's looking good :)

Random Fact of the Day: You know when taking a video of yourself, and you always think your voice sounds really weird? When I was little, I used to think it's recorders distorting my voices. Over the years, as technology improved, but my voice didn't, I realised the discrepancy lies with my ears XD. It turns out (and this was confirmed at one of our lectures last weeks) that the bones in your ears resonate when you talk, so what you hear is a mixture of your voice travelling into your ear from outside, and the soundwaves that are conducted within your ears itself. o.O So yeah, unless you have a really crappy recorder, what you hear in videos/recordings is your actual voice, as the rest of the world hears it.

If you are wondering what brought this on, we had to take video recording of ourselves doing practice consultation interviews (taking patient histories and stuff). *wince* nothing like seeing yourself in third person to make you realise how awkward you actually sound. lol.

Has anyone seen the trailer for FF Versus XIII? I know it came out like, a year ago or sometime ridiculously far back, but I just saw it the other day, cos one of my fellow nerdy friends was showing it to us.

It's like Advent Children all over again - only shorter :P .The graphics are incredible. I think I'm in love! ^_^ I swear if I ever graduate from med school, and start having time again, I will go and learn how to animate like that. lol. Even if it means I have to go stalk Japanese gaming companies or whatever :p

And then I'll put my newfound animation skills to use and make characters that don't always have sickening perfect skin and expressionless faces.

And is it me, or does the main character have an uncanny resemblence to Sasuke from Naruto?? It may be the gravity defying hair and the wodden face XD

But yeah, for those of you who haven't seen it - HD button definitely worth the click if your connection can handle it XD

I should be asleep. I just *know* I will regret being still up tomorrow morning. :P
You know how on some days, you just don't feel like going to bed, even though you feel a wee bit tired, and know you really really should. yeah. that's me now.

We learnt today people usually have a dominant ear, the same way he or she is left or right handed, one would have a ear that is stronger than the other . I thought that was pretty interesting. You can tell by the one usually hold your phone up to - and it's true! I ALWAYS listen with my left, even though I'm right handed, so you'd think I'd hold my phone with my right hand, but I don't!

o.O

It'll be interesting to see if many people have matching dominant sides, or are mismatched like me. :)
